If you’re looking for something to do, come aboard the Macassa Bay for a sightseeing tour of the Detroit River that includes commentary on historical locations along the shoreline.
Take an Amherstburg cruise aboard the Macassa Bay
Cruise these historic waters and add a special touch for both residents and visitors. Sail through the “hole in the wall” and see the other side of Boblo Island and its palatial homes. Learn about Amherstburg’s deep connection to the War Of 1812, and the region’s vital role in the defense of the American Invasion, on this lower Detroit River cruise.
We depart Kings Navy Yard in Downtown Amherstburg at 12:30 p.m. Along the way, enjoy views of Fort Malden, Boblo Island, Millionaires Shore, and many other significant historical sites. We sail over the site of the first naval battle where the U.S. ship, the Cuyahoga, was captured by the British.
Learn about the history of Boblo Island and see the palatial homes on its “gold coast.” After cruising through the “hole in the wall,” we head down the Livingston Channel, and out to the Detroit River Light before returning to the Kings Navy Yard at 2:30 p.m.
As we cruise, enjoy a light lunch or a snack from our a la carte menu while listening to a live-audio commentary on the history and cultural significance of the Detroit River and surrounding areas.
